Botanical Surveys

Site monitoring surveys may require detailed recording of vegetation along fixed transects. This methodology can be very useful for assessing changes over time, particularly in relation to management interventions such as alterations to grazing or cutting regimes.

Here a belt transect is being used to provide baseline data prior to the blocking of moor grips (drains) on upland mire habitats in the Yorkshire Dales.
