Case Study – Acid Grassland
An area of Public Open Space on the outskirts of Bawtry required an Ecological Management Plan.
The site supports a range of acid grassland, heathy woodland and lichen-bryophyte heath habitats.
An extended Phase 1 Habitat survey of the whole site was undertaken, including bryological survey commissioned from a specialist surveyor.
The results of the site survey and background data search were reviewed against the Local Sites Selection criteria and with reference to the Doncaster Biodiversity Action Plan and Species Audit.
A written site-description was produced describing the habitat types and compartments present on the site.
The major components of these habitats and significant site features were identified. Recommendations for management of habitats, site features or species were made and habitat enhancements suggested.
